Squatting in our bungalow

We have been here for a week! We moved in the night we closed with just the bare essentials, and we have been camping out in the living room while the bedrooms get paint and crown moulding!! The colors we chose for the boy's room is sooooo fun ~ kind of a greek island blue. We are going for a modern nautical theme in there. Our Master is a super light grey and we chose to do all the trim in white dove. Our teen room is an ultra light grey called opal. We wanted a blank canvas for them to punk up with posters and we plan to get some Banksy stencils for them too! We absolutely love it here being in Central Park is great because we are so close to everywhere we want to go! And we couldn't ask for better neighbors! In just the first thirty minuets we were here we were welcomed by more kind people than we ever even met at our old home.

We were hoping to find hardwood in the kitchen under the yucky, but with two toddler boys and a busy family life we thought better of tearing up the super sturdy and great cement board that is there now. Soooo we are opting for....wait for it.....black and white vinyl tiles. I know, its not the most desired and swanky material but it will go down quick, won't cut into our budget too deeply, and it will look super cute in our cozy kitchen. Plus, we can replace it later if we want without any remorse.

A family friend has a claw foot tub that we hope will be in good enough shape to use in one of the bathrooms. We are planning on putting in hex tile on the bathroom floors. Subway tile for the surround and wainscotting.  Neither of the bathrooms have a vanity or medicine cabinet so we hope to keep pedestal sinks or maybe find some cool utility sinks. And we want to find two craftsman medicine cabinets.

We are heading out soon to the architectural salvage places in our area to find tons of stuff including the windows to flank the fireplace. Wish us luck!
